Susan Weber B.A., the sole owner of River Spirit, has been a certified Massage Therapist since 1986 (#647), and a yoga instructor since 1998. Her interest in alternative healing dates back to the 70‘s.

“I realized taking antibiotics for a skin condition was not something I felt comfortable with after a few months, and it was not helping that much! I sought out an herbal nutritionist, and thus my journey began to explore other avenues of healing. I became interested in massage a few years later, and moved from Michigan to attend the New Mexico Acadamy of Healing Arts in Santa Fe where I completed a 1000 hour program in massage in 1986. I have continued to heal myself with alternative methods — my eyesight, fibroids, and various injuries from an active lifestyle. The combination of yoga and massage has helped to maintain my health, they complement each other perfectly. I continue to add to my skills in both areas, and consider myself an ongoing student as well!” She worked with Michigan Bicycle Touring for two seasons between her social work and massage career.

Besides her private practice, Susan also works at the prestigeous Ten Thousand Waves, a Japanese spa and resort in Santa Fe, and at Ghost Ranch Conference Center in Abiquiu. She teaches yoga intensives and does massage there as well.

Susan was recently hired with Lundblad Expeditions as a Wellness Co–ordinator.

She also volunteers at the Boys and Girls Club in Abiquiu and with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), a nation-wide support organization for children in foster care. Susan resides on three georgous acres on the Chama River with her two beautiful cat friends, Sam and Cassiopia, and considers the natural world “good medicine” and key to health as well!
